The SOCAR Polymer Summer Internship Programme offers senior students an opportunity to put their
theoretical knowledge to practical application, boost soft skills and develop leadership qualities.
Since the launch of the Internship Programme in 2016, the number of applications has tripled.
For eight weeks straight, successful incumbents will be studying the Company’s processes and
procedures, mastering new competences and contributing to corporate performance excellence.
Following a mandatory introductory course, the students will break up into groups to join various
project teams working on action-oriented tasks at SOCAR Polymer plants and office in Sumgayit city.
To face the real-world challenges and ensure operations continuity, SOCAR Polymer needs new
generation specialists, with modern evidence-based knowledge acumen and competences. Our intensive
on-the-job trainings will ultimately boost your chance for employment and promotion.
To become an intern at SOCAR Polymer, you need to choose a subject field. Eligible to apply are
citizens of Azerbaijan Republic who will receive their Bachelor’s degree in summer of 2019, as well
as 1st and 2nd years students studying for a Master’s degree. Follow the step-by-step instructions
below and apply for the vacancy of interest.
Operations
Operation is a complex of activities performed by the operating staff to ensure safe and reliable
operation of the plant equipment. The operating staff is an authorized shift of personnel on duty,
including managers, operators and technicians who maintain operational control over technological
processes at the plant and configuration change-over.
Plant operators oversee the entire production process of a given facility, including supervision
over personnel. Operators coordinate their efforts with technical and supervisory workers to get all
plant workers on the same page. Their goal is to improve plant quality, efficiency and safety by
ensuring that the production process runs safely and smoothly and that the plant produces quality
results.
Plant operators primarily monitor the equipment under their charge. They both control instruments
and make sure they're working properly, and they might schedule and coordinate maintenance efforts
if necessary. They're also in charge of shutting down or otherwise handling equipment during an
emergency.
Plant operators perform other administrative tasks as well. For instance, they record test results
and other data germane to a plant's operation. They also keep an eye on test results over time and
suggest adjustments to the manufacturing process as necessary. They then relay those findings to
supervisors and other managerial personnel. Accruing of on-the-job experience is significant for
plant operators’ development and advancement.
Maintenance
Technicians are part of the maintenance team that ensures safe and reliable operation of the plant.
The maintenance team has 3 branches of activity: instrumentation & control, electrical, and
mechanical.
Electrical technicians help create, maintain and repair the electronic components and equipment used
in any equipment or device that involves electricity. Electrical technicians assemble equipment
components or electrical systems or prototypes, using hand tools or measuring instruments; use
specialized measuring and diagnostic devices to evaluate how electrical equipment is working; build
or calibrate instrumentation; build electronic devices based on reading schematics, inspect for
problems, troubleshoot, repair or replace old equipment and install new equipment, and much more.
Petrochemical plants are classified as industries that require extremely precise measuring and
monitoring equipment to regulate flow and pressure rates, keep track of production, manage power
use, and ensure safety. Instrumentation technicians monitor atmospheric and environmental changes in
industrial areas and buildings. They use a variety of instruments and devices to record and report
these changes. They test, calibrate, install, repair, and inspect monitoring devices. They also
perform general maintenance on the equipment and design new measuring and recording equipment. On a
typical day, they work with scientific and analytic computer software, calculators, voltage and
current meters, and electronic probes in order to diagnose faults in circuitry. At the SOCAR Polymer
plant, specifically, instrumentation technicians are primarily responsible for implementing planned
and breakdown maintenance of plant instrument control devices.
A mechanical technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install,
troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive
and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business
goals and objectives. At the SOCAR Polymer plant, specifically, mechanical technicians are primarily
responsible for implementing all maintenance activities on both static as well as rotating
equipment..
